Seattle Sounders vs FC Dallas
Lumen Field forms the backdrop for an exciting Major League Soccer showdown between Seattle Sounders and Dallas FC.
Seattle Sounders haven’t been the embodiment of consistency by any stretch of the imagination (W5, D5, L4), yet they come into this round inside the seven in the Eastern Conference. However, now would be a good time for long-serving manager Brian Schmetzer to stem the bleeding after his side went winless in back-to-back games, including a 4-0 demolition to LAFC. Lumen Field has been a fortress, with the Sounders avoiding defeat in all five MLS home matches this term (W3, D2) while averaging nearly three goals per game. Indeed, they netted 14 goals in that decent-looking sequence while only conceding five in return. Dallas’ visit could help them add to that tally, considering they’ve not lost any of their last four league H2Hs (W3, D1).
Dallas ominously failed to get on the scoresheet three times in that period, suggesting they may have a hard time recovering from a frustrating USA Open Cup defeat to New York Red Bulls. The visitors’ recent league form has been dismal, as they’re winless in their last three matches (D1, L2), with both defeats coming by 2+ goals ‘to nil.’ Despite all the setbacks, Eric Quill’s men have fared well on the road, avoiding defeat on their first six MLS travels (W3, D3) before a 5-0 thrashing at new top-flight franchise San Diego last time out. Three successive losses at Lumen Field suggest they may encounter the same fate this weekend.
