Sanna Khanh Hoa vs VS Viettel
Nha Trang Stadium is the venue as newly-promoted Sanna Khanh Hoa and perennial Vietnamese League 1 tenants VS Viettel go head-to-head in their first top-flight meeting since 2019.
Khanh Hoa’s top-flight experience following last season’s runner-up finish in the second division has been off to a rocky start, as they’ve only managed two wins from the opening ten league matches (W2, D5, L3). Since beating Da Nang 1-0 at home in mid-April, they’ve alternated between drawing (2) and losing (1) in three League 1 matches, scoring under 1.5 goals on each occasion. On a more positive note, since going down 2-1 to Thanh Hoa in their opening home league outing, the ‘Blue Swift’ have gone unbeaten in all three top-flight games at the Nha Trang Stadium (W1, D2) despite failing to find the net before halftime twice in that period.
On the other hand, visiting Viettel romped SLNA 3-0 at home last time out to move within a one-point distance of the playoff line following an underwhelming six-game league form (W1, D3, L2). After back-to-back scoreless draws in mid-April, Viettel’s last three top-flight fixtures have featured over 2.5 goals, with two seeing both teams on the scoresheet. However, the ‘Red Tornado’ slipped to a goal-glutted 3-2 defeat at Thanh Hoa on their most recent travel after going unbeaten in five consecutive away league matches (W1, D4). Interestingly, all four draws in that sequence yielded the same 0-0 scoreline, highlighting the potential for a low-scoring affair.
