Manchester United vs Crystal Palace

Old Trafford forms the backdrop for an exciting Premier League showdown between fourth-placed Manchester United and mid-table Crystal Palace.

Fresh from booking their place in the League Cup win courtesy of a 5-0 aggregate triumph over Nottingham forest in their semi-final tie, Manchester United seek amends for a 3-2 league defeat at Arsenal last time out. Despite being knocked down from a decent six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League (W5, D1), Erik ten Hag’s men still hold a three-point lead on fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand. Though they enter this clash as pre-match favorites, the ‘Red Devils’ must be all too aware of their underwhelming five-game H2H form against Palace in the Premier League (W1, D2, L2), including a heartbreaking 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in mid-January. However, a return to Old Trafford should bolster United’s confidence as they’ve won their last five home league matches by an aggregate score of 11-1.

In the meantime, visiting Crystal Palace head into proceedings amid a rough patch, having failed to win any of their last four Premier League fixtures (D2, L2), drawing a blank three times in that run. By extension, Patrick Vieira’s men have won just one of their seven competitive games since club football’s resumption in December (D2, L4). But after holding top-four hopefuls Newcastle United to a scoreless draw on their most recent Premier League travel and amassing seven points on their last four visits to Old Trafford (W2, D1, L), the ‘Eagles’ will fancy their chances this weekend. However, a lack of firepower remains an issue for Palace, as they’ve averaged just 0.78 goals per league away game this season.
