Juventus vs Genoa

Allianz Arena is the venue as Juventus and Genoa go head-to-head in a ‘must-win’ Serie A fixture.

A humiliating 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina before the international break condemned Juventus to consecutive Serie A losses via 3+ goal margins for only the third time in club history. Indeed, after going unbeaten in their first 14 home league games this season (W7, D7), ‘I Bianconeri’ slipped to a disastrous 4-0 loss to Atalanta in their last such outing. As a result, they head into proceedings a point adrift of fourth-placed Bologna under the stewardship of interim boss Igor Tudor after the club sacked Thiago Motta during the break. The record-time Italian champions must get back to winning ways immediately, and a 15-game unbeaten league run against Serie A teams starting the round in the bottom half of the table (W9, D6) can inspire confidence.

Juventus’ strong form against Serie A’s ‘lesser’ teams spells trouble for Genoa, whose three-game winless league run (D2, L1) ended before the international break, courtesy of a 2-1 win against Lecce. Therefore, Patrick Vieira’s men are in contention for a top-table finish despite trailing 10th-placed Udinese by five points. Worryingly, the Griffins have stuttered against the division’s top-nine sides this term, taking just four points from 12 matches (D4, L8). That awful run of results includes a 3-0 home loss to Juventus in September’s reverse fixture, making it back-to-back H2Hs without scoring for the first time since January 2018. As if that’s not troubling enough, the visitors have gone winless in all six away league outings in 2025 (D3, L3).
