Inter Milan bounced back from a heartbreaking Supercoppa Italiana defeat to AC Milan with a narrow 1-0 triumph at Serie A minnows Venezia last weekend. In doing so, ‘I Nerazzurri’ set a club record, posting a sixth consecutive away league ‘to nil.’ It was also Inter’s sixth top-flight victory on the trot, moving them within four-point distance of table-topping Napoli with two games in hand. Back to Giuseppe Meazza, where they’ve won six of their nine Serie A matches this season (D2, L1), Simone Inzaghi’s men will be out to enact revenge on Bologna for last season’s Coppa Italia defeat. Furthermore, after back-to-back 6-1 home league triumphs against ‘I Rossoblu,’ Inter drew 2-2 in this corresponding fixture in 2023/24, highlighting the importance of not underestimating their rivals this midweek. 

On the other hand, Bologna conceded a last-gasp penalty in a gut-wrenching 2-2 home draw against Roma at the weekend but commenced this round only two points adrift of sixth-placed Fiorentina. Therefore, Vincenzo Italiano’s men are firmly in the running for another European finish, though an indifferent three-game away league form (W1, D1, L1) doesn’t bode well. Despite their zig-zag results on the road, the visitors have remarkably netted 2+ goals on seven of their last eight Serie A travels, losing just once in that run (W4, D3). It’s hard to put it past Bologna to maintain their prolific road form, especially considering they’ve beaten Inter twice in their last four competitive H2Hs (D1, L1).
