Inter Miami vs CF Montreal
Keen to return to winning ways after a rough patch, Major League Soccer giants Inter Miami entertain out-of-sorts CF Montreal at Chase Stadium.
It’s been far from an impressive season for Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, as they’ve won less than 50% of their opening 14 MLS matches (W6, D5, L3). Furthermore, since a 4-1 home rout of New York Red Bulls at the start of May, Javier Mascherano’s charges have alternated between draws (2) and defeats (2) across their last four league games. A lack of defensive solidity saw the Herons concede 3+ goals in all four outings, taking their disastrous tally to 24 league goals conceded in 2025. For perspective, only upcoming rivals Montreal (25) have capitulated more often in the Eastern Conference than the Fort Lauderdale outfit. Without a clean sheet in their last five home league fixtures, it’s barely surprising they only won twice in that sequence (W2, D1, L2).
Meanwhile, pinned to the foot of the table, Montreal wasted an early two-goal cushion in a 2-2 home draw against Los Angeles FC last time out, extending their winless league run to three games (D2, L1). With just one win from the opening 15 MLS matchdays (D5, L9), the visitors remain the only team in the Eastern Conference yet to hit double digits in terms of points (8). If it’s any consolation, Montreal’s only league win this season came in their last away match against New York City FC (1-0). However, having netted under 1.5 goals in all nine away league outings (W1, D2, L6), they seem incapable of handling this Herculean task.
