Fulham vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion are set to trade tackles in an intriguing midweek Premier League encounter at Craven Cottage.
Aleksandar Mitrovic put Fulham in front against Arsenal at the weekend. However, Marco Silva’s porous backline again undid the Serb’s effort as they ended up on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline at full-time. After seeing their three-game unbeaten start to their returning Premier League campaign go out of the window (W1, D2), the ‘Cottagers’ will fall back on their 100% unbeaten Premier League record against Brighton (W1, D3) in pursuit of another positive result. Alarmingly for Fulham, they have only picked up one victory in their last 16 Premier League midweek fixtures (D7, L8). Yet, if you’re looking for an omen, that solitary success came at the expense of Brighton in January 2019. The hosts will be out to grab back-to-back Premier League wins at home for the first time since April 2019.
In the meantime, Brighton & Hove Albion have enjoyed a flying start to the new Premier League season, going unbeaten in all four opening matches (W3, D1), including a brace of away wins over Manchester United and West Ham United. They are on the cusp of making history, as they’ve never registered three consecutive away victories in the English top flight before. There’s plenty of reason for optimism in the ‘Seagulls’ camp, considering they’ve racked up clean sheets in each of their last seven Premier League meetings with newly-promoted sides (W5 D2). But there’s a downside, with Graham Potter’s men failing to win a single midweek Premier League outing last season (D3, L4).
