Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leicester City
Amex Stadium is the venue as Brighton & Hove Albion and Leicester City go head-to-head in a tasty-looking Premier League encounter.
Last weekend’s defeat at Crystal Palace marked Brighton’s second consecutive league loss and significantly dented their hopes of securing European qualification, with the Seagulls starting the round in ninth. There’s almost no margin for error as Fabian Hurzeler’s men bid to return to winning ways against Leicester – a side they’ve not lost against across their last five league H2Hs (W2, D3). Furthermore, Brighton could win three home league meetings with the Foxes for the first time in club history. It would be a fitting way to avenge a heartbreaking 2-2 draw from this season’s reverse fixture, in which they dropped a two-goal cushion beyond the 85th minute. However, a slow start is on the cards, with only Leicester (2) opening the scoring in fewer home Premier League matches than Brighton (5) this term.
On the other hand, another humiliating 3-0 loss to Newcastle United earlier this week consigned Leicester City to becoming the first team in English Football League history to lose eight consecutive home league fixtures without finding the net. The beleaguered Foxes look destined for an immediate return to the second tier, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future in the dugout hanging by a thread. Adding to the skepticism, the visitors have lost their last eight Premier League matches without scoring and could reach another unwanted feat as the first-ever top-flight team to lose nine in a row without a reply. If it’s any consolation, 14 of Leicester’s 25 league goals this season have come on the road, while their last top-flight victory came away to Tottenham in January.
