Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen

Allianz Arena sets the stage for a tasty-looking Bundesliga meeting between familiar foes Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen.

Bayern Munich protected their 100% start to the new calendar year in the Bundesliga with a nervy 4-3 win against relegation-threatened Holstein Kiel last weekend. However, Vincent Kompany’s side nearly let complacency get the better of them as they were 4-0 up at one point, only to concede three unanswered goals, meaning only two Bundesliga teams have conceded more goals than Bayern’s six in the past three games. Back to the Allianz Stadium, where they’re still to lose a top-flight clash this season (W9, D1), the Bavarians are in pole position to avenge a 1-0 loss in last season’s corresponding fixture. That’s also the record champions’ only defeat across their past 30 league matches against Werder Bremen (W25, D4), including a thumping 5-0 win in September’s reverse fixture. 

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen finally got off the mark in 2025 last weekend, squeaking past Mainz 1-0 at home to end a four-game winless league streak (D2, L2). In doing so, the visitors reduced the gap on fourth-placed RB Leipzig to only three points pre-round while recording their best point tally after 20 Bundesliga rounds since 2011/12. Furthermore, despite a two-game winless away league run, Ole Werner’s men have collected the division’s third-most points on the road this season (W5, D2, L3). Werder’s scoring prowess on hostile turf has been impressive, as they’ve netted 2+ goals on seven of their ten Bundesliga travels. However, they’ve recently been prone to slow starts, conceding first in four of their last six away league games (D1, L3).
