Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf 31/05/20

31 May 2020

In-form Bayern Munich welcome relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf to the Allianz Arena, looking to stretch their unbeaten run in their Bundesliga (BL) H2Hs to 12 games (W9, D2).

Prime title contenders have racked up seven consecutive BL triumphs ahead of the kick-off, including a 1-0 away success against Borussia Dortmund last time out, to build a seven-point gap over the aforementioned rivals. Indeed, the ‘Bavarians’ have been a force to be reckoned with since the calendar flipped, winning all but one of their 11 league outings since the turn of the year (D1). Impressively, eight of their ten victories during that 11-game sequence have yielded a multiple-goal margin, with Bayer finding the opening goal on all of those occasions. They now take on the Fortuna side, whom they’ve outplayed in three of their last five top-flight home H2Hs (D2), scoring over 2.5 goals in four of those clashes, too.

As for the visitors, they’ve put an end to their four-game winless BL run (D4) with a 2-1 home triumph against Schalke 04 last time out, closing the gap on 15th-placed Mainz to just one point. Also, the ‘Flingeraner’ have avoided defeat in four successive league away matches (W1, D3), with each of those three draws seeing both sides find the net. But, to maintain that streak, Uwe Rosler’s men would have to prevent Bayern from scoring the opener since they returned just three points from seven BL away games in which they’ve shipped the opening goal (D3, L4).
