Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham Hotspur
Aspmyra Stadion forms the backdrop for the second leg of Bodo/Glimt’s UEFA Europa League semi-final tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ulrik Saltnes’ late goal in a 3-1 first-leg loss in London gave Bodo/Glimt a fighting chance ahead of the return fixture in Norway as they bid to make the most out of their maiden appearance in a Europa League semi-final. Though they must punch above their weight to reach the final, Kjetil Knutsen’s side can take confidence from progressing from all three previous Europa League knockout ties despite losing the away leg. Therefore, they’re still capable of becoming the first Norwegian outfit to contest a grand UEFA final, yet their dreadful record against teams from England paints a bleak picture. Indeed, the Norwegians have lost all four previous encounters against Premier League clubs, including a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in this season’s league phase. That said, they’ve won all six competitive home outings in 2025, including three in this competition.
Given Bodo/Glimt’s outstanding home form, Tottenham would be well-advised not to take anything for granted as they aim to reach a European final for the first time since going down to Liverpool in the 2018/19 Champions League showpiece. Hoisting the Europa League trophy is the only chance for Spurs to salvage a humiliating season and atone for being forced to settle for a bottom-half finish in the Premier League for the first time since 2008. The Londoners have progressed from 18 of the previous 21 UEFA two-legged ties when winning the first leg and have yet to lose via a 2+ goal margin in this Europa League cycle. As such, they’re in a prime position to lock down a place in the final. However, a dismal run of seven losses from ten competitive away games since the start of February (W2, D1, L7) offers a note of caution.
