Everton vs Ipswich Town

Goodison Park is the venue as Everton and Ipswich Town lock horns in a bottom-half Premier League match-up.

Back to Goodison for their penultimate home league game of 2024/25, Everton will be out to snap an underwhelming five-game winless run on Merseyside (D4, L1). With the Toffees preparing to move to their new waterfront stadium, they’ll be keen to go in style. Yet, with only Leicester City (16) drawing a blank more often than Everton (15) this season, that’s not a foregone conclusion. Indeed, the hosts have failed to get on the scoresheet in their last two league outings (L2), including a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in their most recent home encounter. However, history beckons for Everton as David Moyes’ side emerged 2-0 victors in October’s reverse fixture and can pull off their first league double over Ipswich since 1994/95.

Meanwhile, a thumping 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United last week sealed Ipswich’s immediate return to the Championship, meaning there’s no more pressure on the Tractor Boys to deliver. Therefore, Kieran McKenna’s side will be out to salvage some pride and return to winning ways after four straight league matches without victory (D1, L3). McKenna must address Ipswich’s defensive woes to increase their chances of upsetting the apple cart after seeing them concede 11 times in that four-game sequence. On the bright side, Ipswich’s last two visits to Goodison yielded triumphs, though their most recent encounter on this ground dates back to February 2002.
