Barcelona vs Celta Vigo

Barcelona’s La Liga title quest continues at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys against European hopefuls Celta Vigo.

Despite being beaten 3-1 at Signal Iduna Park in midweek Champions League action, Barcelona booked a semi-final date against Inter Milan courtesy of a 5-3 aggregate win against Borussia Dortmund. However, it was Barca’s first competitive loss in 2025 (W20, D4), potentially derailing their spirits ahead of a must-win La Liga home fixture, with Hansi Flick’s charges boasting a four-point lead over Real Madrid in an intense title race. Though heavily fancied to take three points at home against Celta, Los Blaugranas have won less than 50% of their last 15 league meetings with this opposition (W7, D5, L3), making Real Madrid the only to avoid defeat more often against Barcelona since the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign.

Meanwhile, Celta’s eight-match unbeaten streak (W5, D3) ended abruptly last weekend as Espanyol triumphed at Balaidos, complicating Los Celestes’ pursuit of European qualification. Despite occupying the final qualifying spot in La Liga pre-round, Celta cannot afford further setbacks in a dramatic run-in, with Mallorca and Real Sociedad breathing down their necks. Catalonia has been a bogey place for Celta down the years, with Barcelona beating them in six of their last seven away H2Hs (W1). However, an impressive four-game unbeaten league streak on the road in the build-up to this trip suggests they could change the dialogue this weekend (W2, D2).
