Leicester City vs Manchester United

King Power Stadium is the venue as Leicester City and Manchester United go head-to-head in a bottom-half Premier League showdown.

Leicester City’s hopes of avoiding an immediate return to the second tier are fading after a 1-0 loss at Chelsea last weekend condemned them to a fifth consecutive league defeat without a reply. Therefore, they could become the first team in Premier League history to lose six successive top-flight games without scoring! Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is on the precipice of a premature sacking, with the Foxes losing 12 of their last 13 top-flight matches (W1). As a result, they commenced this round six points adrift of safety. Despite Man Utd’s notorious struggles, Van Nistelrooy’s charges have already lost three competitive H2Hs this season, including a dismal 3-0 defeat in November’s reverse fixture in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could slump to their first bottom-half finish in the Premier League as they trailed 10th-placed Fulham by eight points pre-round. Ruben Amorim’s charges received a massive confidence boost ahead of this trip, beating Real Sociedad 4-1 at Old Trafford to advance into the Europa League quarter-finals. The King Power has been a happy hunting ground for the Red Devils, considering they’ve only lost once on their last eight league visits to this venue (W4, D3). Furthermore, they’ve been ruthless against the bottom three sides in the league this term (W4, D1), with each victory seeing them score precisely three goals.
