Juventus vs AC Milan
Allianz Stadium sets the stage for a mouth-watering Serie A showdown between eternal rivals Juventus and AC Milan.
Juventus have drawn back-to-back Serie A matches against Torino and Atalanta upon their return from a forgettable Supercoppa Italiana trip to Saudi Arabia, effectively relinquishing their hopes of returning into the Scudetto race. Only two points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, Thiago Motta’s charges are still in contention for a coveted Champions League finish as the only Serie A side yet to lose a league match this season. However, ‘I Bianconeri’ have drawn a league-high 13 games (W7), including the last three at home, all of which yielded an identical 2-2 scoreline. Another stalemate is on the cards, considering Juventus’ two most recent top-flight meetings with Milan have ended goalless. Worryingly for Juventus fans, the hosts haven’t won any of the last four Serie A encounters between these sides in Turin (D2, L2).
On the other hand, Milan overhauled a second-half deficit to beat newcomers Como 2-1 in midweek Serie A action and post their first league win under new manager Sergio Conceicao. In addition to avoiding defeat in his first four competitive games in charge of ‘I Rossoneri’ (W3, D1), Conceicao ended the club’s two-year title drought by lifting the Super Cup title in the Middle East. However, Milan’s situation in Serie A remains dire. Despite only losing once in their last ten league outings (W4, D5), they trail fourth-placed Lazio by five points with a game in hand. On the bright side, beating Como saw Milan register back-to-back away wins in Serie A for the first time this season and could make it four on the trot for the first time since March 2024.
