Atletico Madrid vs Huesca 26/09/18

26 September 2018

After a slow start of the season, Atletico Madrid seem to be raising their game, as they prepare to host La Liga debutants Huesca at the Stadio Wanda Metropolitano, looking to achieve a third straight win.

Los Colchoneros have played two matches at home in La Liga this season, barely defeating Rayo Vallecano by a narrow 1-goal margin while playing out a 1-1 draw with Eibar, and Diego Simeone expects to see his side winning home games in a routine way like they did last year. Still, after that draw with Eibar and a disastrous 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo, Los Rojiblancos have secured two consecutive triumphs by beating AS Monaco in the Champions League opener and Getafe in La Liga last weekend.

On the other hand, the debutants are currently one point away from the relegation zone after losing three successive league matches, to Barcelona, Rayo Vallecano, and Real Sociedad. Although they’ve outscored Eibar on the opening matchday and avoided a defeat at the San Mames against Athletic Bilbao, Leo Franco’s players seem to be losing the tempo imposed by the other La Liga contestants.

Simeone won’t have Santiago Arias, Stefan Savic, and Victor Vitolo at his disposal as all are struggling with injuries, while Aleksandar Jovanovic, Rajko Brezancic, and Jose Camacho won’t be playing for the visitors.
