Liverpool vs Leicester City

Liverpool and Leicester City are set to face off against each other at the National Stadium in a handsomely-looking summer friendly.

Liverpool launched their off-season preparations with an action-packed 4-2 win over Germany’s second-tier outfit Karlsruher before sharing the spoils with Greuther Furth in a goal-glutted 4-4 draw last time out. Both matches saw Jurgen Klopp’s side score precisely three second-half goals, highlighting how prolific they are beyond halftime. Bringing the tail-end of the 2022/23 campaign into the equation, they’ve bagged at least three goals in four of their five previous outings. Speaking of prolificacy, the ‘Reds’ have netted 2+ goals in their last three meetings with Leicester (W3), including a thumping 3-0 victory in their most recent H2H. Despite coming into proceedings without a clean sheet in four games in a row, Liverpool can draw confidence from shutting Leicester out in two of their last three encounters.

On the other hand, Leicester City’s aim in the ongoing pre-season is to rebuild their confidence following an abysmal 2022/23 Premier League campaign that culminated with the club’s relegation to the Championship seven years after shockingly winning the title. New manager Enzo Maresca has enjoyed a perfect start to his tenure at the King Power Stadium, guiding the ‘Foxes’ to a brace of victories over Northampton and Oud-Heverlee Leuven by an aggregate score of 5-2. Maresca’s men will take the field in high spirits after going from five straight matches without a victory (D3, L2) to three wins on the trot, two of which saw them score 2+ goals. However, you’d need to go back to 2000 for Leicester’s last triumph over Liverpool outside the King Power!
