Norwich City vs Arsenal 01/12/19

1 December 2019

After a shock 2-1 home loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, Arsenal return to the Premier League (PL) this weekend as they head to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City.

The hosts’ dreadful run of the PL league results was brought to a halt last weekend as they pulled off a stunning 2-0 away win over Everton. It was Norwich’s first league victory since mid-September and first after seven successive PL outings without a win (D1, L6). Notably, five of those defeats saw the returnees trail at halftime, with four of them coming via the identical 2-0 scoreline. Faced with a daunting prospect of ending a three-game losing PL home streak, the Canaries desperately need a win to escape the relegation zone. But, Norwich’s recent top-flight record against Arsenal can’t comfort the home fans, as they’ve lost four of their last five PL H2Hs with the Gunners (D1, L4).

Meanwhile, a seven-game winless run in all competitions (D5, L2) has seen Arsenal fire Unai Emery on the eve of their trip to Norwich. The visitors have not picked up only four wins in the opening 13 rounds of the PL fixtures, but they come into this meeting after failing to secure a win in five consecutive PL matches (D3, L2). Also, only one of Arsenal’s four league triumphs has come away from home, with the Gunners losing three of their last five PL away games (D2, L3). Another potential worry for the traveling side is that they’ve drawn a blank in both of their previous PL road trips, scoring a total of five goals in six so far.
