Spain vs Romania 19/11/19

19 November 2019

Spain will entertain Romania at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in the final match of their 2020 UEFA European Championship qualifying (ECQ) campaign.

An electric home form has given a sizeable contribution to the Spaniards’ qualification, as the Red Fury won all four of their previous ECQ matches on home soil, conceding only one goal across those fixtures while scoring 16. What’s more, Robert Moreno’s men have netted 3+ match goals in each of their last three ECQ home games, with 11 of 14 goals they’ve scored in those matches coming in the second half (78%). Since exiting the World Cup, Spain have kept five clean sheets in seven home games, friendlies included. In the same sequence, they’ve netted at least two goals on six occasions, opening the scoring inside the first 25 minutes four times in the process.

As for the visitors, they have ruined their chances of securing promotion to the final tournament after picking up just one point from their last two ECQ fixtures. But, the Tricolorii have gone from two straight ECQ away games without a win (D1, L1) to back-to-back triumphs, both of which have seen them score at least three goals and concede none. Such a scenario is, however, unlikely to happen here, given that they’ve lost four of five competitive trips to Spain (D1, L4), scoring only once across those clashes. Still, goals could be flowing here, as all four of Romania’s previous ECQ away matches have featured three or more goals, with two of them seeing both teams score.
