New England Revolution vs Minnesota United

New England Revolution and Minnesota United are set to trade tackles at the Gillette Stadium in a tasty-looking Major League Soccer clash.

It’s been an indifferent 15-game start to the new MLS season for New England (W5, D5, L5). Yet, they are level on points with seventh-placed Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference. With another playoff finish well within reach, the hosts hope to follow the pattern of alternating between draws (3) and wins (2) across their last five MLS outings. However, it’s worth noting that their three previous home league matches have ended level. On a more positive note, Bruce Arena’s men have won both home MLS meetings with Minnesota United, despite conceding in each. With no clean sheet from their last four competitive home games either, New England may need to score a couple to maintain their 100% home success H2H ratio.

In the meantime, things are not going Minnesota United’s way these days. The visitors have suffered five defeats in seven MLS fixtures (W1, D1), including the last two on the trot. But since three of those five reverses yielded a single-goal margin, they will aim for another competitive showdown. Curiously, none of Minnesota’s last five away league matches have ended level (W2, L3). Three of those five results (win/loss) came ‘to nil,’ highlighting the importance of a fast start. Indeed, Adrian Heath’s men have won none of their seven MLS games in which they conceded the opening goal this term (D2, L5).
