Watford vs Leicester City

Relegated Watford will get the final taste of home Premier League football this season as they are set to entertain mid-table Leicester City at Vicarage Road in the penultimate round of fixtures.

It’s been another disappointing top-flight campaign for Watford, who have suffered relegation from the Premier League for the second time in three years. But Roy Hodgson’s men held Everton to a goalless draw in midweek Premier League action, recording their first home clean sheet in the Premier League after 22 consecutive failed attempts. Moreover, the midweek stalemate also arrested Watford’s disheartening run of 11 top-flight home defeats. Relieved of any kind of pressure, the ‘Hornets’ will be looking to give the Vicarage Road crowd something to shout about, and have a four-match unbeaten H2H home run in the Premier League to rely on (W3, D1). But after losing 12 out of 13 home league matches in which they conceded first this term (D1), Watford would be strongly advised to fly out of the traps.

As for Leicester, Jamie Vardy’s second-half brace, coupled with James Maddison’s strike, catapulted Brendan Rodgers’ side to a 3-0 home win over Watford’s fellow relegation partners Norwich City last time out. After halting a discouraging run of five Premier League matches without winning (D2, L3), Leicester will aim to complete their second-ever Premier League double over Watford following a 4-1 thrashing in the reverse fixture. Worryingly, though, the ‘Foxes’ have alternated between stalemates (2) and defeats (3) across their last five Premier League games on the road, failing to keep a single clean sheet in that sequence. In fact, the Midlanders have just two shutouts from 17 league travels to their name this term.
