Qatar vs Argentina 24/06/19
24 June 2019
Qatar and Argentina go head-to-head at the Arena do Grêmio in Porto Alegre for a Copa America match that will determine the faith of both nations.
After clinching a 2-2 draw with Paraguay on the opening matchday, Qatar suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia in the second round of Copa America fixtures, as they currently reside third in Group B. The Maroons have now struggled to keep a clean sheet in four straight outings, allowing over 1.5 match goals on two occasions in the process. Félix Sánchez Bas can’t be happy with his team’s recent attacking output neither, considering Qatar have failed to find the net in two of their previous three games.
Sitting bottom of Group B, the Argentineans need to pull off a triumph here to keep their chances of reaching the knockout stage alive. After suffering a 2-0 loss to Colombia in their opening game of the tournament, they have been held to a 1-1 draw to Paraguay, although the Paraguayans failed to convert a penalty that could’ve sealed Argentina’s destiny. Lionel Scaloni’s main problem ahead of this encounter could be La Albiceleste’s struggling in the final third in 2019. They have scored one goal or less in four of five matches since the turn of the year while keeping a blank slate only once along the way.
